Vizio XVT553SV Review

Vizio XVT553SV Review

The good: It is cheaper than other LCD-based local dimming LED reproduces relatively deep
black levels with excellent shadow detail, accurate and well saturated colors, excellent brightnessBed-performance, consistency and excellent sound streaming content via the widget well integratedapplication platform includes Bluetooth remote control with unique sliding QWERTY keyboard, integrated WI-FI.

Bad: More blooming than some of the local dimming LED's, black colors show a slight blue tint, and not correctly handled 1080p/24 content, poor off-angle viewing, image controls less than some HDTV high-end products, the over-all looks are generic.

Bottom line: Vizio XVT3SV a series of excellent image quality, intelligent design,
scads of features and reasonable price combine to make the best balance between high-end
LED-based LCD TV today.

Review:

Vizio may not be impressessive with your friends, and videophile snobs,
but the company known for its budget TV,S does its best to change. XVT3SV
series, Vizio third try at using a whole bunch of local dimming LED's to compete
against the other brands top LCD's is most successful. The XVT3 The best LCD we've tested as far as key levels and black colors, and the matte screen--hard to find in high-end LCD's these days--means excelent bright-room performance.
It's not perfect, especially when viewed from off-angle dark material, but the price is hard to complain. As for the rest of your living room Visitors they will be impressed with the remote control applications and a variety of other characteristics, although some may pooh-pooh the style. If you're in the market for LED-based high-endLCD, and do not care about 3D, Vizio XVT3SV series deserves a serious look.

Editor's Note: Based on the strength of it's performance against the competition, we have assigned the Vizio our Editors' Choice for LCD TVs in 2010. Also on February 16, 2011, we lowered the Design score from a 8 to 7, lowering the overall score8.3 to 8.0. We believe that the score more accurately reflects the design of the TV in the current market.

Series Information: This is a practical assessment of the 55 inch Vizio XVT553SV and

this review also applies to the 42 - and 47-inch sizes in the series. They all Employ with
LED backlights with local dimming, have identical characteristics and according to the
manufacturer should provide a very similar image quality. The review does not apply to
smaller sized screen products in the series such as the 32-inch and 37 inch XVT323SV XVT373SV,using edge-lit LED backlights.

Earlier this year, Vizio finally updated the appearance of its XVT models. The new design looses the silver speaker bar and goes all-black, and also presents a number of round edges on the side of the frame and between the speakers at the bottom. The overall look is a bit
more subtle, but still common, and the stand does not swivel, but at least XVT3SV Designs
quietly blends well in most decors.
Vizio also cut depth of 5 down 3 inches, if you care. We do not, but we do care
that you can not disable the Vizio logo light while the TV is on. Firmware Updateplease?

Vizio SERIES XVT3SV

One of the best features of the television is remote, with its full QWERTY keyboard and Bluetoothfunctionality.

Remote and menus

Explanations on the menu screen Yes

The remote has a sliding QWERTY keyboard and integrated control for other IR devices.

Vizio's secret weapon, you can't find on any other TV remote as far as we know, is a full slide-out keyboard with dedicated keys for letters, numbers and symbols, as on a smartphone. Best of everything is that it comes with the TV for free, not as an expensive option, like some other Internet able remotes.

We found the thicker and heavier clicker reassuring in the hand. Its standard keys are easy tobrowse and organized carefully, but would appreciate further differentiation through touch.
The absence of any type of lighting did not help and we missed having a dedicated key for
aspect ratio. The keyboard worked on all the applications we tried, and although we found it more cramped and a bit less reactive than, for example, the keyboard is a typical smartphone, it works perfectly, and makes Tweets, Facebook status updates, and username / password Sign-ins so much easier than the standard remote control or keyboard on screen combos.
Bluetooth remote works without requiring line of sight, and also promises future
functionality. Although we could not prove it, Vizio says the TV can sync with other Bluetooth devices such as full-size keyboard or headphones. Vizio launches a couple of these
headphones soon, but said that the recent set of Bluetooth-compatible should work.

The universal part of the remote control is also well thought out. Instructions on the screen, instead of long lists of instructions in the manual, guide you through the control programming for your devices.
The volume and mute key can "transfer" function to an external gear like an
AV receiver. It lacks the full feature-based tasks such as harmony, but the TV remote control goes even beyond anything we've tested to meet the needs of most users.

Vizio menu system similar to another application in appearance, and we thought that the image settings section is actually integrated in the main taskbar App (see below). Responses was timely, explanations complete, and we had no trouble finding our way around. In sum,
Remote and menus of the XVT3S series were the best we have used, and bested in different
ways the efforts of the best known brands.
